This is what I’ve gotten: Most of us shared in group that we struggle trusting God fully because of our past experiences and struggle understanding why He allowed certain things to happen, why He placed us in the care of parents that were abusive, addicts, or were not there physically, emotionally etc etc. Some are struggling to trust due to current circumstances, marital issues, job loss, you get the idea: The one common factor is this: we all… like everyone else have or have had trouble trusting God fully.
God wants you to know He is sorry for all that we have all gone through. He says that we live in a fallen world, where it seems like our darkness (anxiety, depression, cancer, trauma, suicide, addiction) is slowly swallowing The Light, but take heart because it is written that light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it!
Imagine yourself in a dark room. The moment you turn on the light switch, the darkness flees. Jesus is the very light that overcomes all darkness. He is the light of all mankind—our hope for transformation.
When God created us, it was not His intention to place us in harm’s way. He knew the possibility of what may happen, but also knew how great it would have been had the people He entrusted us with walked with Christ. He knew the worst but wished HIS CHILDREN; the mom & Dad who were addicts & didn’t know how to love, the abusive parents who mis-represented what discipline should be and abused their powers, having your innocence taken, families falling apart, marriages falling apart, ALL THE HORRIBLE THINGS we have endured, or are currently walking through BRAKE HIM. He feels our pain deeper than we know, His desire was for His children to walk with Him and protect us from the darkness, instead they walked us all right into it one way or another.
“So why me… and not the girl next door??” Is a question im sure we have all asked ourselves, well when he was knitting us together, fearfully and wonderfully made, He knew that through his grace we would all be resilient enough to bounce back, He didn’t choose us because He knew it would make US strong or tough, rather He chose us because CHRIST would be strengthened through us. That despite all we’ve been through, and all that we will face in the future, we are able to shout BUT GOD!
The chorus from Graves into Gardens is playing over and over right now…He’s making an amry, we are his toughest soldiers; not of our own doing are we strong, but because of God we are strong.
The beauty in our lives today started with the ashes of our past. I know for me when I felt like I was drowning with no chance of survival HE showed up and turned that sea of desperation I was in, into the most beautiful highway I’ve ever seen! And He truly is the only explanation for all of it.
All through the years, through all the pain and heartache… there was Jesus, no matter what, always by our side…. I keep hearing him saying to look back over all the times that make you question His trust or faithfulness, really invite the Holy Spirit to sit with you and invite him into the memories and The Spirit will show you just where Jesus was weeping with you, his protection from worse outcomes and him fighting off the enemy from turning us away from God forever. He has built such a beautiful (painful so painful in the moment) history with us, a story that shines full of His Glory, our past will be used to further His Kingdom. He builds histories with his children so in moments of doubt, or lack of trust we can look back into the archives and know that we know deep down He IS trust, just like He IS LOVE. And no matter what, the devil can’t do anything to take away or erase any part of our history with God.
He just wants us to let go of what is causing us to question Him
and step out in faith and trust that He can and will make all things great in His time.
If something is hard, difficult, never seems to be working out: let it go, He has something better! If your heart is wounded, surrender it to Him, He will heal it far more abundantly than you can imagine and place it in the hands of someone who will cherish it! If your children are strong willed, surrender them, and discipline like Jesus. Trusting they will eventually submit their will to yours, and then to His! Financial issues.. surrender… well TITHE and surrender.. it works… ask me and ill tell you that testimony!! Whatever it is, surrender it, leave it at the cross and keep it moving. He has blessings waiting around the corner we can’t even imagine!
Long story short: Give up the bologna, His fried chicken is mo betta! – Pastor David
His promise:
Trusting in me will not always be easy, but it will be easier to recognize when you doubt Me and can redirect your thinking back to Our History together. Learning to trust and rely on Me is a process, but also a choice. No one is perfect, but thats ok. Jesus came to cover the imperfections. You are My children, and there’s nothing that can be done to separate us now.
